Oh, and this guy also comes in black with gold-dipped antlers! So I guess you can say we’ve finally jumped on the animal head bandwagon? Probably 5 years too late. He did say though I should paint the nose red. But if you go in next week when they are on sale, you’ll get them for 50% off. :) I used a coupon for 40% off for one, and got the other for 50% off because he was a little scuffed up.

My husband said he wants one for his office so I guess I won’t be returning one.

I wanted it for part of a Christmas decoration for something, and I’ll decide which one looks better when I get that done. But then the guy showed me the one with the glittered antlers, and well, they both came home with me. Ok so I originally went in for the gold one. So what did I just have to have? These guys. When I got home I looked at my phone and I took like 30 pictures in the store! I’m sure they thought I was nuts. And this is probably old news to the regular HL shoppers, but I know not everyone has a store nearby, so you might like to take a peek with me. :)Īnd to my surprise, they had all of this awesome stuff!! I guess I won’t wait months before I go again, because they have stepped up their game. But I seriously have enough crap around here to decorate with, that I don’t need any more. And actually, I can’t tell you the last time I’ve been in there. He then added some small sawtooth picture hangers at the top center of each frame. So yesterday evening I went into Hobby Lobby because I saw something online that I *needed* to have. Then my hubby simply used 16 gauge brad nails to attach the furring strips to the outside of the canvas. I did have some of my favorite Weathered Grey stain left, so I stained all of the cut pieces and let them dry overnight before he assembled the frames for me. He cut me 8 pieces of the furring strips at 14″ long, and then another 8 at 13″ long (top and bottom of frame). Once all the painting was done, I enlisted my sweet hubby to run the chop saw for me. So I make sure to use a steady hand and a lot of patience to do it just right the first time. Sure, I had extra canvas to work with, but I really don’t like having to do things more than once. I like to sit down and concentrate on this step. Once all of your templates are traced onto the canvases, then you simply retrace your pencil marks with the paint marker. I don’t have a fancy light box for tracing, so I just set it up in a window and used the sunlight to highlight it. Then I just traced the font through the canvas using a good old school pencil. I used a couple of pieces of tape to keep the level line on the front, and also to hold in the paper to the back. I just printed each of mine out, and trimmed them slightly to fit in the recessed back of the canvas frame. You may use my templates, or create your own. Now that you have all of your supplies, it’s time to get to work.
